Resume ID: 23383362    Resume Headline: Experienced C/C++ Game Programmer /w IT, DBA, & Web Tech Background
OBJECTIVE: I'm currently employed, but come March '07 I'll once again be looking for full-time employment as a software design engineer or technical PM. I'm hoping to find a position that allows me to continue my foray in to the game industry, but even above my love of games I'd still prefer a position where I can get my hands on code.
EXPERIENCE: 10/2006 - Present Microsoft Game Studios Redmond, WA
Software Design Engineer II
I'm currently working a contract at Microsoft Game Studios helping develop a Windows gaming service called Live Anywhere (codename Panorama) that will extend the Xbox 360 Live community to other platforms.
5/2006 - 7/2006 Microsoft Redmond, WA
Builder / Software Design Engineer I
I recently worked a short term contract with the real-time communication build engineering team at Microsoft servicing MSN, Office Communicator, Live Meeting, Live Communicator Client / Server, RoundTable, and numerous other products. Responsibilities included fixing bugs with the Perl backend, designing and implementing the C# / ASP.NET web front-end, as well as DBA’ing BizTalk and MS SQL 2005. In addition to all these hats I was accountable for the farm of 57 servers (largely PE2650s and PE2850s) ensuring that they were running soundly as well as making sure all the assorted builds were moving forward. The infrastructure leveraged BizTalk for messaging between the build machines and the database using MS SQL 2005 to persist the results.
11/2005 - 4/2006 Microsoft Game Studios Redmond, WA
Software Design Engineer in Test II
After Age of Empires 3 RTMed I was offered an extension to help test three major XBox 360 launch titles including Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, and Project Gotham Racing 3. Once the gold masters left the building I was hired to work on Rise of Legends as a part of the core team with job responsibilities shifting from testing to programming C# security and performance tools. Other responsibilities included managing the Rise of Legends contract staff group; automating three labs to perform a 50 machine security battery; configuring & maintaining a sixteen-man lab for the testers that worked under me; training new test staff; authoring test plans & test cases; performance testing using VTune / F1 / WMI; providing QA; and helping fix bugs found in the game engine.
7/2005 - 11/2005 Microsoft Game Studios Redmond, WA
Software Design Engineer in Test I
During my summer '05 break I was hired fulltime to work as a part of the core team testing Age of Empires 3 at Microsoft Game Studios. Job responsibilities included designing test harnesses, performance unit testing, programming tools, and providing quality assurance.
5/2003 - 11/2003 Home Depot Redmond, WA
Special Service Rep
To finance my more interesting pursuits I recently worked for the Home Depot of Redmond acting as a liaison in every aspect of the business at the Special Service desk, from placing large orders for customers to handling all-manner of financial complication.
6/2001 - 8/2001 MyMethow.com Twisp, WA
Security Consultant
Performed a contracted security audit of MyMethow.com, specifying fixes and future preventative measures
6/1997 - 8/1999 Now Electronics Huntington, NY
Programmer
Throughout high school I did office work, helped move inventory, and offered my assistance in the event of computer troubles to the employees of NowElectronics. In early '99 I was recruited to assist in the early stages of development for the back-end of NowElectronics' website (http://www.nowelectro.com), designing ASP code to interface with their MSSQL database.
3/1997 - 6/1998 Opportunities Industrialization Center Amityville, NY
